Backstory
Amelia Rose Lightwood is the third child of Robert and Maryse. She is the second daughter. She was born on November 11thLike her siblings, Amelia grew up with a distant mother. Seeing how their mother was towards Alec and Izzy, she grew up to always make her proud and never want to disappoint her but it wasn't always working because of her spirited energy. From a young age, Amelia was already curious about the mundane world. She would always ask question about their world, about the shadowworld, about the runes, about the clave. Well, about everything.Years before she started her training to become a shadowhunter, Amelia was always begging to come whenever Alec, Izzy and Jace were training. She wouldn't talk or bother them. She would just sit and watch.Amelia started her training at the age of 8 like any Shadowhunter. She didn't enjoy classroom learning. She was more interesting in training and memorizing the Runes.At the age of 11, Amelia use her first weapon by taken a sword because she was wanted to be like her brothers and sister but was caught and reprimanded by her brother Alec and later by her mother.When she received her first runes, she also got her signature weapon who is a bow and arrow.At the age of 14, she went for the first time on the field with her siblings.At the age of fifteen, she was sent to another mission but during that mission, she wasn't fully in control of her emotion. She went on a combat against a downworlder without thinking and was badly injured and stab on her right leg by a dagger. Amelia was send back home to Idris because she act recklessly and because of her wound. The only reason why she act out on emotion was because she couldn't stand the constant fighting between her parents. While she was back in Idris, she was slowly getting back on her feet with training, and continuing her basic trainings. For her sixteen birthday, Amelia wishes to have a normal birthday with her family and wishes to see her brothers and sister but they couldn't come. The evening end up with her parents fighting as usual which brough her to the point that she couldn't take it. She pack her things and left home. She couldn't stand to see and hear their constant yelling and fighting. She knew that something was off but she didn't know if it was because of the Clave or something else worse. So, she decided to head back to the Institute, even though she wasn't fit to get back on the field. She lied about her condition and told Alec that she was better and clear to stay at the Institute.

She was always asking him advice or trust him more but the minute, she learned the truth what he has done, she lost respect of him. She was extremely angry and upset. To the point, that she didn't even want to get out of her room at the Institute when he was there.Maryse Lightwood : Amelia isn't afraid of her mother but the way she has seen her treating her sister Izzy and how cold she was toward her, it made her to never want to disappoint her or make mistake. When she got injured during a combat with a downworlder, Maryse showed disappointment and was ashamed of her. She was sent back to Idris with her parents because her mother didn't think she was fit to be a shadowhunter and could fight. It took her a couple of month to recovered from her injury. When things started to get heated at home and that her parents couldn't stop fighting and yelling, she left Idris on her own to get back in the Institute, even though, she wasn't fully heal or told her parents. She went to a rebellious phase where she completely ignore both of her parents.-Alexander Lightwood (Alec) : Apart from her older sister Izzy, with whom she is close, Amelia has always admire Alec, even when she was younger. Whenever he was training at the Institute with Jace and Izzy, Amelia would beg to come and just spend hours watching her siblings learning hand-to-hand combat, learning Runes. While Izzy taught her and help her to learn the Runes, Alec helped her with the hand-to-hand combat because she was afraid and didn't think she could do it. After learning the divorce of their parents and their father cheated on their mother, Amelia didn't spoke to anyone or show how she was really feeling. It was only Alec who could break the wall she build around herself after he notices her change in behaviour, even toward him, which she usually never do. She was feeling guilty and remorse when he learned that she has been lying to him about her injured. She could see that he was disappointed in her that she didn't told him or Izzy or Alec that she wasn't fully back on her feet. She has a great respect for her brother and was happy when he became the head of the New York Institute, even if sometime she didn't agree with him.-Isabelle Lightwood (Izzy) : Izzy and Alec are two of her siblings that she is most close of. Amelia never really saw anything bad or negative about Izzy. Amelia was the first one to disagree (in silence) about how wrong their mother treated Isabelle. Isabelle was the one who taught her all the runes, when Amelia was old enough to become a Shadowhunter.-Max Lightwood : With only four year of difference, Amelia and Max grew up to become competitive towards each other.-Jonathan (Jace) : Amelia was around six when Jace was taken by her family, he became quickly a brother to her. She was devastated when he left with Valentine because he believed he was his son.-Simon Lewis : Amelia doesn't know much of him since she only met him when Clary arrived at the Institute. She is mostly fascinated because he is a mundane and wouldn't stop talking. For Amelia, he eventually became a friend, a member of the family. When he was turned into a vampire, she took it hard because she doesn't trust easily Downworlder. She never said it or show it but she had crush on him for a couple of month. She never talk to mundane or be around any mundane which made her ask billions of questions about the mundane live.-Magnus Bane : She didn't trust him at first because her mother told her many stories about warlock. But the more she saw him and how he was with her brother Alec, she saw how wrong her mother was. Curious about how a warlock live and about their magic, Amelia snuck out inside his home one time to see what was inside but she was caught by Magnus and her brother who wasn't happy. When Amelia is feeling extreme remorse and guilt, she would often sneak out of the Institute to either go for a long walk or knock at Magnus's door to talk because she doesn't want to tell the truth to Alec, fearing he would be angry, disappointed in her.- Clary : Like most of the people at the Institute, she didn't really like her at first.
